NuvaRing is a low-estrogen combination hormonal contraceptive device approved by the FDA in October 2001. NuvaRing is a soft, flexible, two-inch vaginal ring that is worn for three weeks and removed for one week. Recent studies have reported an increased risk of blood clots and other NuvaRing side effects in users of the contraceptive.
