Zoloft and Birth Defects

Sokolove Law is no longer accepting Zoloft® cases.

Your doctor may have prescribed an SSRI – selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor – antidepressant medication for you. However, if you were taking an SSRI, including Zoloft, while you were pregnant, your child may have been affected by a Zoloft birth defect.

Zoloft In Pregnancy

Zoloft, which is also known as sertraline, is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain, that studies have shown helps maintain mental balance. Treating these issues is important, even while pregnant. However, you may not have been aware that using Zoloft can result in serious medication birth defects.
