Effexor and Birth Defects

Sokolove Law is no longer accepting Effexor®cases.

If you were taking Effexor while you were pregnant, your child may have been affected by an Effexor birth defect. Antidepressants are known to cause birth defects in children of mothers who take these drugs in pregnancy. The manufacturer of your medication may be held responsible for those injuries.

Effexor During Pregnancy

Effexor, which is also known as venlafaxine, is used to treat depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. It is a helpful treatment for women who need it, since studies have shown it helps maintain healthy levels of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain, but not for the babies they carry during pregnancy.
